A busy, good sized town boasting four hotels and supermarket and major shopping strip, Alexandra is located at the far reaches of the Maroondah Hwy (B360) and on the Goulburn Valley Highway (B340). Not far south, there are spectacular views of the Cathedral Ranges at adjacent towns of Taggerty (to Buxton) along Maroondah Highway. There are considerable fine old buildings at the western end of the main street, and good historical information to be found there.
