The large open plan kitchen is fully equipped to whip up a romantic dinner for two. The spacious lounge and dining area is light and airy, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring or hitting the slopes. When you wake up to the spectacular mountain views from your comfy queen bed, you'll know you're somewhere special. Avalon House, the beautifully renovated original 1895 Harrietville Mine Manager's residence, sits amid stately trees on the banks of the Ovens Rivers. It offers comfortable and peaceful accommodation in tranquil surroundings. We also have a gallery, cafe, lounge bar, conference and function rooms and serviced office with internet, colour printing, copying etc. We have a one bedroom and two 2 bedroom cottages/units, all recently renovated. They offer all the comforts of home, including fully-self contained kitchen, lounge with TV, DVD, Stereo and broadband internet. The accommodation is warm in winter and cool in summer and all have their own gardens or patio gardens with decks and barbeques. Prices range from $110 per night for two people in our one bedroom unit, up to $150 per night in our two bedroom spa unit which comes complete with drying room and second TV. Additional adults are $25 and children $15. We are just 30kms from Mt Hotham in the Victoria Alps and in the heart of the high country surrounded by wineries and fine food restaurants, as well as great recreational opportunities such as walking, cycling, horse riding, paragliding, climbing and fishing among many others.

Shady Brook Cottages situated on the Ovens river are stylish self-contained holiday accommodation. The cottages are alpine in style and supberly furnished, spa and wood fire is available. Set on 5 areas of landscaped gardens and 10 acres of private bush with walking tracks, mountain views and gold mines. Shady Brook Cottages at Harrietville are located on the Great Alpine Road in Victoria's high country at the base of Mount Hotham and Mount Feather Top. In the non winter period this region is a paradise for walkers of all standards, from beginners to the experienced and those wanting to see the Australian Alps". Harrietville is at the gateway to the Alpine National Park, park info available from the cottage. In winter it is a perfect base for snow sports at Mt Hotham, Mt buffalo and Mt Feathertop.
