Also within walking distance is the Tongariro River, one of New Zealand's best trout fishing spots, and after you've bagged your catch you can head back to the motel where we have fish cleaning facilities and a storage freezer. We will hot smoke your fish for you at no charge. Our BBQ area is equipped with easy to operate gas BBQs, tables and chairs for your outdoor dining pleasure...

The open plan home has a wooden interior and is sunny and warm. It is situated right on the bank of the Tongariro River and there are wonderful views of the river. The guest bedroom has a private entrance through a glass conservatory and overlooks the river and native garden. No smoking inside please. Leslie is a retired hotel manager and Maryke is a visitor centre manager. They enjoy tramping, trout fly fishing, skiing, gardening and native birdlife. They have an Australian cattle dog (stays outside).

Our camp has 96 comfortable (mainly 2 berth but some 3 or 4 berth) cabins all equipped with beds or bunks, mattresses pillows, heater and a table and chair. All guests bring own bedding. We can accommadate over 220 guests and have large recreation rooms and function rooms to meet all requirements.Communual showers and washrooms are well situated and kitchens have toasters, cookers, fridges and frezzers. The camp is set in 3 hectares of park like- grounds of grass and trees. There is plenty of space and privacy for individual or group camping and cabin accommadation. Outdoor games are covered, we have a volleyball net, a croquet set,childrens play area and plenty of room for a game of cricket.
