Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the kitchen. We are only 1½ hrs from Auckland Airport, just a good drive after your arrival, or before you fly out. Come and relax in the countryside, with the beaches in easy reach, nice walks and within easy reach of Matakana Wineries & Market for you to unwind at. Auckland is only 70km (1hour) drive away, so have all the pleasure of a rural area, but the City attractions within easy driving distance.

Matakana House Motels are located in the Matakana Village which is the hub of a picturesque and vibrant community an hour north of Auckland's Harbour Bridge. On site is Matakana House, built in 1900, a cosy and delightful tavern and restaurant with an appealing rural ambience. Here you can sample local food and wines and meet the locals. Why not spend a day on the sweeping sands of magificent Omaha Beach (just 5 minutes away) or take a horse trek along Pakiri Beach. Perhaps play a round of golf at the new international course at Omaha or visit the Tawharanui Regional Park for a surf or leisurely walk. Vanessa and Allan Barber have lived in New Zealand for 30 years after emigrating from Great Britain. They built Sugarloaf Lodge as their dream home to enjoy and share with guests from all parts of the world. Having travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, North and South America, they understand and appreciate other cultures and perspectives. Sugarloaf Lodge is situated on the lower slopes of local landmark Pukematekeo or Sugarloaf Hill with native bush and birds. The bedrooms are separate from the main house with their own access and sitting out areas. The bedrooms can either be in king size double or twin bed configuration. There are wonderful sea and rural views from the bedrooms; Matakana village is only 5 minutes away by car, with its Farmers' Market, cinemas, shops and restaurants; Omaha Beach is less than 10 minutes by car, ideal for safe swimming with a Surf Patrol, beach walks and an 18 hole golf course.
